about

Following on from 2014's Black Moses seven inch and the New Cowboy Songs CDr, we have Pentre Alexandra Deaths Head Orpheans. First album. Eight tracks of high strung rant rock recorded in late 2015 on a diet of Polish lager and not much else.

Track Name: Hands Up
Hands up if you think you're the only one with insides / What's special about you sounds shallow to me / Hands up if you think you're the only one with hidden depth / Like the wealth of your experience amounts to more than pre-sleep revenge fantasies.

Experience // Experience // It's all about Experience // It takes Experience.

Hands up if you think you're the only one with insides / What's special about you sounds shallow to me / Hands up if you think you're the only one with hidden depth / That can advocate crap attempts at sarcasm / I wish my childhood was worse / I wish my childhood was tragic / I could make a tragic case / Put my art into a higher resolution.

Experience // Experience // It takes // Experience // It's all about // Experience.
Track Name: Top Jokes Only A Receptionist Would Get
What's the trouble
That you know of
You started it off
So come and show me

You felt in control
Well I can burn bridges
That no one else has seen
And there are obvious questions
Regarding my methods
I seek completeness
By any means
Some sort of meekness
That's still fraudulent
Some sort of meekness
That's still fraudulent
Please take me from the edge of despair
It's gaining rhythm and i'm not going anywhere
Please take me from the edge of despair
It's gaining rhythm and I'm not going anywhere

What's the trouble
That you know of
You started it off
So come and show me
Please take me from the edge of despair
It's gaining rhythm and i'm not going anywhere
Please take me from the edge of despair
It's gaining rhythm and I'm not going anywhere

Please take me from the edge of despair
Top jokes only a receptionist would get

Put it on a disc, Steve.
Track Name: Yes Sleeve
Today I took thirds of inheritance away from five close knit blood relatives and I'm well past phone calls from my mother who grieves for me but not for my muted TV.

Lives and house and completely detached but the skirting boards are up to scratch. I left my soul in a Yes sleeve, kept in the corner of my study.

I don't pull it out anymore. I don't give it a spin anymore. I don't pull it out anymore. The grooves are starting to hiss at me.

Today I downed six bottles of IPA and turned to the pubescent child sat at my daughter's side and said "how much do you think the net worth of your Dad is, annually, if you'd be so inclined to tell me."

Lives and house and completely detached but the skirting boards are up to scratch. I left my soul in a Yes sleeve, kept in the corner of my study.

I let my little ones get on to whatever they see fit whether it's X-Box or wanking off some council estate boy I wish I had a drink or someone to hear me think and then maybe I'd feel guilty about all the lives I've stepped on.

Oh, don't you know I can get further down than this.

Today I took two thirds of inheritance away from five close knit blood relatives.

Lives and house and completely detached but the skirting boards are up to scratch. I left my soul in a Yes sleeve, kept in the corner of my study.
Track Name: Doctor Has Orders
Get up, but don't go out too soon
Doctor's orders from the living room.
The circumstances are not what they seem
Purple, grey bruises always look unclean
Get up, but don't go out too soon
Get up, but don't go out too soon
Get up, but don't go out too soon
Get up, but don't go out too soon.

There are things that I've been told
Words from mouths I've focused on
That could not seem to tell me
What my cells are fighting for.

Please take me away from
All the hair-like sheets
And bed controllers
I just want to go back to
When I was on my own.

Please take me away from the nights
Where I have been left alone and
All I can see in front of me is
Reflections of life in the TV set.

Get up, but don't go out too soon
Doctor's orders, living room
Circumstances have not changed today

There are things that I've been told here
Words from mouths I've focused on here
Words from mouths that did not want to tell me anything.
Track Name: Outside School Gates
Last night I was talking to you
On a single bed
With a sincere face you assume.
This morning I'm in uniform
I'm giving you orders
Til it's time to go back home.
I can't be arsed for the A-Level talks
From someone who still believes
In things like Fate and Love.
I'll shroud myself in mystery
On road trips to the sea.

There's nothing I miss
There's nothing to be missed.

Warm bed, well fed
Bleeding gums, smoker's cough.
And when the gypsy fare comes to town
I mong myself out and I walk around.
Now I'm late getting up again
Something inside me rises and then
Descends, descends, descends, descends.

There's nothing I miss
There's nothing to be missed.
When I learned how to drive
My innocence was lost
Outside school gates
On summer days
I park between parents
And sink in a wave
Of shouts and smiles
And feed on
Excitement.
Track Name: Zeus Faber
Inherited hairline, retreating waistline
You're a man from a different time
Too much time spent in the shade
Withered and retrograde
Keep staring at the portraits of yourself
All from the glory days
Before the tooth decay
Stained the meaning of your words
If only you could see
There'd be no mercy
This voyage would be our last

Zeus Faber, Zeus Faber
Don't let us drown, don't let us drown
Zeus Faber, Zeus Faber
Don't let us drown for something you said

Zeus' eyes lit up a bit
When he saw her on the sea
A coffin to behold
The legacy is sinking
And identity with it
They'll name a fish for you

Zeus Faber, Zeus Faber
Don't let us drown, don't let us drown
Zeus Faber, Zeus Faber
Don't let us drown for something you said
Track Name: Cross-Ref
Crouched against a wall.
Expected so much more.
Crowd bows out across the street.
Shies away from those he wants to meet.
He thought he'd have much more to say.
Cross-ref with Wire
We hate expression
Aligned temperaments
Are gonna keep your spirits up.

We hate what we are.

Crouched against a wall.
Expected so much more.
Crowd bows out across the street
Shies away from those he wants to meet.
He thought it'd be okay
Thought everything would turn out great
He thought he'd have much more to say.

We hate what we are.
Track Name: Forgotten Wartime Structures
Let's jump on the bricks
Of forgotten wartime structures
Sitting upon the peaks of beaches and hills.
We can go to where your Dad wrote his name on a rock
You can tell your Mother I'm doing badly if you want
If it'd make you feel better about it

How many times have you set me up
Taking conversations and rearranging them
I never want to give meaning to myself
Albeit used by someone else
I'm sure you never used to talk around me.

As we pull ourselves together
In a corner, in a lane
Don't worry about those giving chase
It's only diazepam side effects
Go for a piss and take deep breaths
On Monday we'll be laughing again
Just tell your Dad
I got you involved
You can use my name
In any way you want.

How many times have you set me up
Taking conversations and rearranging them
I never want to give meaning to myself
Albeit used by someone else
I'm sure you never used to talk around me.
Taking conversations
And rearranging them.
Taking conversations.
